Internet Censorship

The internet has become a place where everybody can put whatever they want. The internet has become a very good way to communicate around the world. The world is smaller because of the internet. The internet should be free of things like censorship because nobody owns the internet. It is not fair for governments to censor the internet; the internet doesn’t belong to them.
Even though, it is sometimes necessary for governments to censor certain places on the internet, like Egypt did to Facebook, however this will eventually cause people to get angry and possibly overthrow the government. People will get angry because you took something important from them. The government might also be censoring the internet because they want to hide something or they are afraid the people might overthrow them. These things usually happen when the government is doing something bad. So, the government blocks social websites or other sites where these things are possible to happen. Eskinder Nega, for example, has been jailed for writing things against the Ethiopian government. The government jailed him because he was writing something that was dangerous to them. Internet censorship is basically a way of taking a person’s freedom. If someone posts or puts something out on the World Wide Web it is meant to be seen.
Even though internet censorship is hated in many ways, it still happens. World organizations such as ITU, should control internet censorship. In this way, a country can’t block whatever they want. For instance, China blocks many websites, and this is not fair for their citizens.
